Phoenix Yoga runs regular, friendly yoga classes in Cheltenham, Charlton Kings and Bishops Cleeve. We can also offer private classes for smaller groups or 1-2-1 sessions at a time and place to suit you.

What is Yoga?

The Sanskrit word yoga is often translated as meaning 'union' between mind, body and spirit. As a result, most students will say that a yoga class is much more than just another exercise class.

At Phoenix Yoga we teach Hatha Yoga with classes offering students exercises to build flexibility and strength in the body, develop their breath awareness and promote relaxation.

Throughout our classes students are encouraged to develop a strong link between their breath and movements.

Our yoga classes usually contain a combination of dynamic and static postures (asana) together with breath work (pranayama) and relaxation exercises.

Yoga is suitable for all ages and abilities. Some of our yoga classes are quite gentle physically while others can be more demanding. However, as everyone's body is different, you will always be encouraged to work at a level that is right for you.

We teach smaller, friendly groups in and around the Cheltenham, Charlton Kings and Bishops Cleeve areas.

Summer daytime Yoga classes

We have daytime Yoga classes starting at 9.30am on Mondays at Parmoor House in Montpellier, Cheltenham and at 11.30am at St Mary's Parish Centre in Charlton Kings. 

We also have a Thursday 12.30pm class (45 minutes) at the Hesters Way Community Resource Centre in Cheltenham.

The classes will be suitable for all levels of fitness and experience.  We can also accept under 18s into our Monday classes.

Tense shoulders?

Our 4 September workshop will be looking at upper backs, necks and shoulders and how you can use Yoga to relieve tension and improve the health of these areas.

TSYP Introductory Course - September 2015

The Society of Yoga Practitioners (TSYP) Introductory Course aims to provide a structured course in the tradition of Sri T Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar. 

Whether you have been practising for a while and want to understand more about Yoga or you are thinking about taking the step towards Yoga teacher training in the future, this course is for you!

Do you have back problems?

The 12 week "Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs" programme is an evidence backed course which aims to gently and progressively help sufferers get back to being more active again. 

We are now able to offer this course on both a group class basis and 1-2-1.  We run these  classes on a demand basis and we have a waiting list available for people interested in our September courses.

Individual yoga classes are an ideal way to explore yoga and develop a personal practice that really works for you.  They can be held at a time and location to suit you making it a little easier to fit yoga into your life!
