Phoenix Yoga runs regular, friendly Yoga classes in Cheltenham, Charlton Kings and Bishops Cleeve. We can also offer private classes for smaller groups or 1-2-1 sessions at a time and place to suit you.

What is Yoga?

The Sanskrit word Yoga is often translated as meaning 'union' between mind, body and spirit. As a result, most students will say that a Yoga class is much more than just another exercise class.

At Phoenix Yoga we teach Hatha Yoga with classes offering students exercises to build flexibility and strength in the body, develop their breath awareness and promote relaxation.

Throughout our classes students are encouraged to develop a strong link between their breath and movements.

Our Yoga classes usually contain a combination of dynamic and static postures (asana) together with breath work (pranayama) and relaxation exercises.

Yoga is suitable for all ages and abilities. Some of our Yoga classes are quite gentle physically while others can be more demanding. However, as everyone's body is different, you will always be encouraged to work at a level that is right for you.

We teach smaller, friendly groups in and around the Cheltenham, Charlton Kings and Bishops Cleeve areas.

Yoga Weekend 26-28 Feb 2016

Why not take some time out and explore your Yoga practice in more depth with our great value Spring Yoga weekend?  We'll be looking at the pancamaya model (the five layers of the human structure) and its use in improving health and well-being as the theme for the weekend.

We'll have daily Yoga classes (inspired by the teachings of T Krishnamacharya and his son TKV Desikachar), workshops (including an introduction to raw food), relaxing Yoga Nidra, stunning hilltop walks and homemade vegetarian food to enjoy.

The Society of Yoga Practitioners (TSYP) Introductory Course aims to provide a structured course in the tradition of Sri T Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar. 

Whether you have been practising for a while and want to understand more about Yoga or you are thinking about taking the step towards Yoga teacher training in the future, this course is for you!

Do you have back problems?

The 12 week "Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs" programme is an evidence backed course which aims to gently and progressively help sufferers get back to being more active again. 

We are now able to offer this course on both a group class basis and 1-2-1.  We run these  classes on a demand basis and our next courses will start soon.

Individual Yoga classes are an ideal way to explore Yoga and develop a personal practice that really works for you.  They can be held at a time and location to suit you making it a little easier to fit yoga into your life!
